I had the pleasure of meeting Adriana in February of 2010. Patti, a trainer at my gym recommended that I contact Adriana for help with a figure competition I wanted to compete in, Emerald Cup 2010. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into and needed help with my diet and posing.

Being 44 and a mom who had always worked out, I could not believe the transformation my body took. Adriana, with all her knowledge of competing and her understanding of nutrition, really helped me get in the best shape of my life.

I highly recommend Adriana to anyone looking for a personal trainer. Besides being supportive, fun and an inspiration, Adriana has become a great friend and personal trainer of mine. Thank you, Adriana!

Fuerte Fitness is a fun gym that has everything I need, and then some. The location is excellent, the price is right and I feel like I am valued as a member. I receive attention, assistance and encouragement that I haven't received at other gyms. My hard work at Fuerte is paying dividends; I am stronger, feel healthier, sleep better and look healthier. I am gaining energy and confidence that is helping me achieve things in other areas of my life - work, school and personal relationships.

Jenny Horstmann is an awesome trainer! She is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and encouraging. I have learned a lot from her. I wouldn't have had as much success in attaining my fitness goals without her. I would recommend her to any of my friends.

Thanks, Ryan J.

Adriana is my savior! I was 16 years old when I finally was ready to do something about my weight. Ever since I was young, Adriana, she being family, would come up to me and grab my tummy, she’d say, “What’s Going On!” she’d always asked because I kept growing side ways too. But I always pushed it aside thinking nothing of it … that was until I reached a whopping 332 pounds! I started to feel ashamed of myself and knew I needed help. I went to none other than my tía, (aunt) Adriana.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was my tía, the scale, and I. “Are you ready”, I asked her. But the real question was am I ready? Ready to do whatever I can to turn my life around. Adriana helped me realize that I had the power to get rid of this thing called “fat”, and release the power I had inside. Along with her 2 a day workouts, and 6 am boot camps; she taught how great food can be and that I didn’t have to let go of the good stuff to lose weight. She helped me physically and mentally with whatever I needed. I have Adriana to thank for all the success I’ve had, and any future success that I obtain. Thank and thank you for opening up Fuerte, now we have a place to go to!

I joined Fuerte Fitness in January 2009 when I first moved to Seattle.  What I like most about Fuerte is the small, friendly community atmosphere.  This is a personal sort of place.  There are of course people who come and do their work out and leave but its a place where you can make friends and gain support in order to attain your goals.  I have made so many friends through Fuerte which means going up to the gym and the classes is something I look forward to rather than something I see as a chore.  My main goal was to loose weight.  The monthly check ins with Adriana proved priceless for me.  I couldn't afford a trainer but the support from her and advice on food and exercise was amazing.  I had weigh in's as well as body fat and inch measurements once a month which was amazing since sometimes when the scale doesn't move it can be disheartening, however seeing those other figures shift was wonderful.

The gym is small but the number of memberships is limited so its never over crowded.  The classes are excellent with something on every week night.  They are fun and challenging but somehow pitched at the right level to include all fitness levels and abilities.

I cant imagine life without my (almost) daily trips to Fuerte now and I am so happy to have found Adriana AND I have almost attained my goal :-)

I met Adriana in January of 2009. I was getting married in July, and knew I'd be spending my honeymoon in Hawaii. I was pretty happy with the way I looked in most of my clothes, but I was not excited about the way I looked in my bikini. I had spent six months in England the winter before, and all the curries and chips, along with lack of a regular fitness routine had taken their toll. When I got home I had started working out, but I was having issues with injuries because of the extra weight I'd gained. I had made some progress, but just couldn't get back to where I had been, and certainly wasn't achieving the goals I wanted to achieve.

Adriana helped me develop a fitness plan that worked around the marital arts practice I already had and a meal plan that worked with my vegetarian diet. Her conditioning and abs classes built a community that made working out fun, and her individual workouts kept me motivated on my off days. Adriana was there every time I started to lose motivation and feel stuck. She encouraged me and helped change my routine to keep me moving towards my goals. Thanks to her training and a lot of hard work, I was able to wear my bikini proudly on my honeymoon.

Thank you for all your help and I wish everyone at Fuerte all the best! Cheers,

-Amelia

Adriana Medina is what I would call my saving grace. I have come further with my nutrition, weight loss, self esteem, and overall heatlh with her in the last few months than I have with any trainer in the past or by myself.

She works 110% on you and you find your self working harder knowing how hard she is working for you. Not only is she a great trainer because she gives me results in the gym, but she is someone I can call anytime when I need to talk about giving up because I want Ice cream or I am tired of running on a treadmill.

She reminds me how hard I have worked and how far I have come and tells me a little scoop of ice cream every once in a while is not a crime, but make it worth it. No matter what you want, either to gain muscle or to loss weight or just to get into better shape, Adriana will get you there in a healthy way. All it takes is her and you beliving in yourself.

Adriana Medina started out as my personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness in Downtown Seattle 7 years ago, and in that time has not only inspired me to get and stay in the best shape of my life, she's become a great friend too. At first she was my trainer two to three sessions a week for nearly one year. Then she convinced me I needed to do a figure competition! I might never have had the confidence to pursue this goal had it not been for her encouragement and the results I saw during my training with her. I came in 5th place in the Vancouver Classic, and couldn't believe the astounding shape I was in. Less than 15% body fat! I learned so many things about food and exercising that I have incorporated into my life ever since.

In literally hundreds of training sessions over the years, Adriana has never failed to train with knowledge and enthusiasm, and perhaps most importantly, she has encouraged and inspired me to work harder than ever towards my goals. Her knowledge of exercise, including an endless variety of exercises and correct form for each, her understanding of food, nutrition and supplements, her understanding of different health situations and needs, and her personal competition experience give her a rare combination of skill and credibility necessary to train athletes who are serious about getting and staying in better shape than ever. And her enthusiasm for helping people get in shape, her energy and constant "yes you can" encouragement make exercising fun! She's also always up for a new fitness challenge, immediately saying "yes" to doing the 204 mile Seattle to Portland bike ride with me, then kicking my butt when we did it. :)

I highly recommend Adriana Medina to anyone seeking a personal trainer who is serious about helping her clients get results, or to anyone considering entering a business arrangement with her as a fitness professional.

Sincerely,
Melanie Wilhoite

I began working with Adriana one year ago. I had never worked with a trainer, nor spent much time in a gym. Although I was on active person, I had never been the type who ‘worked out.’ I was already losing weight on my own, but I wanted to increase my upper body strength. As a cardiac nurse, I needed a strong and fit body not only to do my work activities, but also to be a good example for my patients. I couldn’t even do one push up when Adriana started training me. But she didn’t expect me to initially.

Adriana assessed my strengths and weaknesses, and developed exercise routines that I could do, and gain confidence from. If I couldn’t do one certain exercise, she would have me try other movements that targeted the same areas. Our workouts changed as my body strengthened. I met my goal for increased upper body strength, but it became evident that I had little abdominal muscle tone and poor coordination because of past surgeries and treatment for ovarian cancer. Adriana tailored our sessions to target my whole body, and to help me develop more brain to muscle communication (hence have grace).

The brain to muscle communication helps me have more control. Working with a trainer has definitely been both a physical and a financial commitment. But it has been so very worth it! I would have never had the self-discipline to peruse my goals on my goals on my own.

Thank you Adriana!

When I first started training with Adriana in May, 2003, I weighed around 140 lbs and my bodyfat was 28.5%. I had been working out and dieting on my own for at least six years prior to this but I never could reach my goals. I would read a magazine and try to follow a plan they presented for a while, get frustrated and try something else. I had no focus or direction in my workouts and eating patterns – there was no method to my madness.

I logged countless hours on the cardio machines with no results and I shied away from serious weightlifting out of fear of getting too big. My diet was a disaster… I tried to eat really healthy with lots of fruit and low-fat carbohydrates while avoiding protein. I also tried the Atkins diet with no success. I was always trying to restrict my calories and eat less to lose fat. Well, none of my approaches were working and I was really frustrated.

Adriana set me straight and devised a training plan for me to follow…and taught about having well balanced eating habits. Within two months my body had transformed and the longer I continue training with her the better it gets. I decided to train for a figure competition, the Washington Ironman, in order to have a goal to work towards. It ended up being one of the best experiences of my life. I placed 5th out of 6 girls in the Tall class at the Washington Ironman in October, 2003. I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. I worked really hard to prepare for the event and it has changed my life in many positive ways.

As a result, I now know how to eat right and exercise to meet my goals and I still meet with Adriana regularly to keep on track. Her training is an integral part of my fitness plan that enables me to maintain my body where I want to. I am maintaining my body composition now at 123 lbs with 14% body fat thanks to the training tips on my eating behavior and positive coaching I get from Adriana. She is an amazing trainer who has inspired me to reach for the stars and achieve goals I never dreamed possible. I am so thankful to her for helping me to get where I am today. I would highly recommend Adriana as a trainer to anyone who wants to get in better shape whether you are a fitness competitor or new to exercise she is highly knowledgeable, inspirational and fun.

Real Moms, real Stories...

Testimony 1: Michele Sherrard

I’ve been working with Adriana for just over two years. I know staying healthy is a life long goal of mine and exercise will always be a part of that.

She helped me stay fit & strong during my pregnancy and helped get me back to my pre-pregnancy weight “post baby” Adriana helps me come up with goals that work for me- depending on what’s going on in my life. She also helps me with an eating plan because I know that exercise will only take me so far.

During my pregnancy, I wanted to keep tone and have stamina for my delivery. Adriana developed a program for me to do as my pregnancy progressed– my thighs actually shrunk during pregnancy!
After my baby girl, was born, it took me awhile to get focused on me. Adriana checked in with me, but let me come back to working out when I was ready. To help me get back to the gym, Adriana even held Drew during our workouts while I did crunches and push-ups.

Testimony 2: Merrie Williamson

In March of 2005 I finally had enough of feeling out of shape. I was playing soccer regularly but my weight had crept up with nights of beer drinking and nachos after games.

I wanted to change things and was well versed in good diet habits and exercise including weight training but had no motivation to get back on track.

That's where Adriana came in. She got me on a 3 day week strenght training program that really challenged me. We met at her gym twice a week and I was on my own the third day. I also signed up for a 1/2 marathon in the summer to keep me motivated to do cardio on my off days. She also helped me identify a good food program to get my calories under control.

As the weeks went by I saw steady weight loss but more significantly I saw my body changing. I was approaching my wedding in August 2005 and I eventually had to get my wedding dress taken in to fit my smaller figure.

In the end I went from a size 8 to a size 2/4! I began at 148 lbs and ended on my wedding day at 132 lbs. My weight actually stayed the same for the last two months andI kept shrinking as my body fat decreased. This was about a 5 month journey and it was really empowering. I never felt better, slept better or felt more beautiful.

My deepest thanks for Adriana for helping me stay on track and motivating me to reach a goal I thought was unattainable when I started. As I'm now 7 months pregnant a year later, I plan to work with her to whip me back into shape next year!

Testimony 3: Veronica Hildebrand

It was December 2004 and I was watching the new reality show. The Biggest Loser and wondering how can one lose that much weight and how does one find a personal trainer if you don't want to subject yourself to the public humiliation of being on network television.

Within the next week I met Adriana. She was very kind and didn't overwhelm me. As we began working out together we pulled together some goals. All I could say was yes, I want to drop this weight, but when you're staring at 100+lbs in the mirror big overall goals are HUGE and seem unattainable.

Initially I just had to get a workout routine into my daily life, then we attacked the diet, and finally I was able to make some personal goals. Six months into training I decided to train for my first endurance event of any kind ever, an olympic distance triathlon. I was scared to say it out loud because then I'd have to do it!

To back up a little Iíll give you some history. I wasn't always fat. The teen years I was trim, played soccer, ran a little track, dabbled in swim team, and loved fashion. In college I did a little modeling and even modeled swimwear on a runway!

Later I got married, a few years later had 2 children, moved around the country (and gained a lot of weight.) Then in February 2003 our youngest daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. At the time while learning about cancer and chemotherapy a thought was haunting me. Am I going to gain more weight? We got through the hardest part of her treatments and she responded well, but by the time I met Adriana I had gained 100 lbs!!.

Well I had almost a year to train for my event. I had to find a swimming suit, start running, start swimming, get on a bike. The whole package. Adriana was there to cheer me on and help me believe I could do it To help me reach my goal I joined the Team in Training program and received triathlon coaching and training. In exchange for the training and coaching the team raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help find a cure of cancer, as mission dear to my heart.

With a lot of sweat, training, coaching, and fund raising on April 2, 2006 I completed my first triathlon, a .9 mile swim, 26 mile bike, & a 10K run! Then if that wasn't enough I roped Adriana in and she & I signed up for the Pacific Crest Olympic triathlon on June 25th. It has been such a journey completing the triathlons.

I'm amazed as I write this as I think about everything I did this last year. I have renewed motivation to continue toward my ultimate goal - reaching my goal weight/size.

I couldn't have done it without the help of Adriana.
