Listen to a great conversation amongst trainer/client, friend, women, and now tribe! Carol's story is so inspiring because she talks about women’s issues like having a hysterectomy, growing up as a minority Asian woman in south Texas, and about what it was like being a child of Japanese parents that were incarcerated in isolated camps when they were young adults. She shares some of her poetry with us and describes how she started creating beautiful writing pieces to express herself. Her story is so beautiful!
Her professional work can be found at http://essenseinteriordesign.com/ Her Poem Below: The Difficulty of Never...and Barbie... Growing up... In a small, redneck town of 10,000 people... In the deepest part of the South... In a place where the only Asian faces were the ones... In our house... Difficulty in differences Indifference to some...who didn’t seem to care Difference to others who I knew did care Difficulty in appearances... The sheer beauty in some... The thick ugliness in others... Beauty as defined by some... As in blondeness, big boobs and Barbie... The discovery of never and no matter No matter... How long I grew my hair... No matter.... How much lemon and “Sun-In” I used... No matter... How much my body matured... I would never... Could never Become....Barbie... Carolee Okamoto ©2018
