It's crazy looking back at this picture of myself because I was at a different spot in my life. I still feel like a kid!
I had been gordita (Mexican term for chubby) since 6th grade and yo yo dieted since then, a habit I learned for my mother. But for me something clicked when I got back from my internship in Mexico! I was uncomfortable and tired. I felt older and insecure. I knew I could get help for this issue, but didn't really want to. I finally ate my pride when I was sick and tired and busted through my wall! I learned that you will not change until the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of changing! So that's what happened to me. I went to see a trainer! I was scared! I was scared because I didnt want to gain the weight back. I was scared of going to my old ways and quitting and having to go through this all over again. But something happened to in me in the process: I set a goal and achieved it. I learned how to eat right and workout at the same time. I learned that putting on a little bit more lean body mass would help keep the weight off. I learn how to go within to cope with my problems instead of going to food. I learned that working out helped me physically but more importantly it helped me mentally to process things. Lifting weight made me feel powerful and strong. I fell in love with developing the skills to work through whatever issues I had instead of covering them up. I delevoped discipline, self control and commitment. This picture was from somewhere in 1999 and I haven't looked back. Making that change has helped me accomplish so many things not only fat loss but self confidence, self worth, the ability to set higher goals and quit the excuses. I feel not only accomplished in my body, but in life. I been able to take on a career I love and become the athlete I never was growing up. Now having gone through this, I have seen so many people go bust through their own wall! I am so inspired and it gives me reason to do what I do. So what's your wall, your excuse that's holding you back? Lets find it and be inspired together! |
